Student Testimonials:
“Working for CASE helped me develop professionally and academically. As a student consultant, I worked directly with professionals. I assisted in developing and distributing surveys, analyzing data, writing reports, giving presentations, submitting grants, and more. CASE solidified my understanding of statistics and experimental design by applying material from courses to real-world problems. CASE projects required creative problem solving, critical thinking, organization, and collaboration. I believe working for CASE fosters independence and tenacity. I use skills I developed working for CASE in my current job as a psychiatric research assistant. I’m the only person in my office who gets excited about creating databases and conducting analyses. I also believe CASE helped me feel confident in a professional setting. CASE provides an immensely valuable opportunity for Truman students and a much needed service for the community.”
“My experience with CASE was extremely beneficial to shaping where I am now. The practical experience I had working with statistics on various projects in CASE for the community and campus helped to strengthen my desire to go to graduate school for biostatistics. CASE also helped me to realize that I could work with people from other groups or disciplines and learn more about their project and topic while providing assistance in the analysis of their data. Today it has even helped me to secure an internship working with the City of Minneapolis’ IT Department on a digital inclusion survey. The skills I learned in CASE to analyze data, develop presentations, network with officials, and create reports has proved extremely beneficial to my life outside of Truman in ‘the real world.'”
“CASE gave me confidence with real-world statistical analysis as well as experience working with clients. I gained invaluable knowledge on consulting, survey-making, and focus groups, as well as on working with and collaborating on the goals of a project. My experiences with CASE not only helped me get accepted into the Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation Masters program at Boston College, but also with getting a job as a Graduate Research Assistant my first semester in the program. I am currently waiting to hear back from Boston College on my application to the Ph.D. program.”
Client Testimonials:
“My colleague and I were a CASE client this year and I would like to commend the truly outstanding job that your consultant did in assisting us. First, she took the time to understand the nature of the project and give us advice about what statistical tests would be appropriate. She also persuaded us that a test that we wanted to run was not appropriate for our study. She was able to translate the statistical terms in ways that we could understand. She provided timely feedback in a courteous manner. She had confidence to engage us at our level, which is something that relatively few undergraduates can do. In fact, it is difficult to believe that she is only an undergrad. Finally, as far as we could see, she did the work with minimal supervision. To say that we were pleased with her work is an understatement. Thank you for the outstanding work that CASE does.”
