    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is CASE?

CASE, or the Center for Applied Statistics and Evaluation, is a statistical consulting organization located at Truman State University. We serve the students, faculty, and surrounding communities of Kirksville and Northeast Missouri. Some of our services include data entry and management, research design, and statistical analysis.

    Where is CASE located?

Our office is in Violette Hall 2222 at Truman State University. Click here to see a schedule of our office hours.

How can I become a student consultant for CASE?

You can enroll in STAT 392 to become a student consultant. This course has a pre-req of STAT 310, but if you feel you have enough higher-level statistical experience you can email CASE to discuss an override. Once you have taken STAT 392, you can enroll in STAT 412 or work with CASE for scholarship hours.

    Does CASE offer tutoring?

No; however, the Truman Student Success Center offers free tutoring for STAT 190 and a variety of other classes and subjects.

Can I and how may I get assistance from CASE?

If you are a Truman student working on your research, please visit the CASE zoom during office hours or email case@truman.edu with a completed consulting request form—available here.

If you are not a Truman student and would like statistical consulting on your project, please send the intent of your interest with a brief explanation about your project to case@truman.edu.

    When should I contact CASE?

Requests for assistance must be sent within a reasonable time frame. CASE will do its best to accommodate your needs, but depending on the complexity of the data and consultants’ schedule, it may take up to one or two weeks to get a response. You will need to plan accordingly. We encourage clients seeking assistance to contact us in their study design stage.

What online resources does CASE provide?

See our online resources. We provide Statistical Software Tutorials as well as other useful tools and links.
